Care for International & Travel Patients

Welcome to Bun Dermatology Clinic. We provide comprehensive dermatological care for international visitors and tourists staying in Osaka.

Whether you experience sudden skin symptoms during your trip, flare-ups of pre-existing conditions, or need to continue medications prescribed in your home country, we are here to support your health while in Japan.

Our board-certified dermatologists will evaluate your condition and provide necessary examinations, treatments, or prescriptions. We can also issue medical certificates (diagnostic reports) and official hospital referral letters upon request.

Languages & Interpretation Services

We primarily use digital translation devices and software tools to communicate during consultations.

While English-speaking staff or interpreters may occasionally be available, they may not be available at all times. Depending on the date and time of your visit, direct interpretation by staff may not be available.

To ensure safe and accurate medical care, we will confirm your symptoms, medical history, and medications using translation devices. We appreciate your understanding.

Conditions & Treatments Provided

We treat a wide range of acute skin conditions that may occur during your travels, including:

  • Eczema, rashes, and contact dermatitis
  • Hives (Urticaria)
  • Insect bites
  • Sunburns
  • Acne and sudden skin breakouts
  • Skin itching, redness, or swelling
  • Bacterial, viral, and fungal skin infections
  • Athlete’s foot / Ringworm (Tinea infections)
  • Shingles (Herpes zoster) and Herpes simplex
  • Cuts, scrapes, and minor wounds
  • Minor burns
  • Localized skin infections and inflammation
  • Other acute dermatological issues

Depending on your symptoms, we perform rapid point-of-care testing and procedures at our clinic. If specialized care, advanced diagnostic testing, or emergency hospitalization is required, we will promptly guide and refer you to an appropriate medical facility.

Appointments & Visits

Tourists and short-term visitors are fully welcome.

We operate on a time-slot reservation system. You can easily book an appointment online via our Website or LINE. Depending on your condition, we may require phone confirmation prior to your visit.

TEL: 06-6626-9241

Same-day appointments may be available depending on availability. Upon arrival, please inform the reception staff that you are a “Travel Patient.”

Consultation Fees for Travel Patients

Consultations for international tourists and short-term visitors who are not covered by Japanese National Health Insurance are conducted on a self-pay (out-of-pocket) basis.

  • Total medical costs vary depending on the consultation, diagnostic tests, procedures, and prescribed medications. Please feel free to contact us for information about consultation fees and other costs.
  • If additional tests or procedures are required, we will explain the purpose, details, and estimated cost prior to treatment.
  • Medical procedures will only be performed with your informed consent. Please ask us any questions you may have.

For Patients Using Travel Insurance

If you have travel insurance, your medical expenses may be reimbursable according to your policy terms.

  • We can issue the necessary documentation, such as medical certificates (diagnostic reports) and itemized receipts, for your insurance claim.
  • Coverage policies and claim procedures vary depending on your insurance provider and plan. We strongly recommend contacting your insurance provider before your visit to verify your coverage.
  • Medical expenses must be paid directly to our clinic at the time of your visit via credit card or cash.

Note: Patients are responsible for submitting claim forms and seeking reimbursement directly from their insurance provider after the visit.

Continuing Medications Prescribed in Your Home Country

If you ran out of medication during your trip or wish to continue taking medication prescribed in your home country while staying in Osaka, please consult with us.

If we can verify your current medication and its active ingredients, our physicians can issue a prescription for equivalent medications approved and available in Japan.

What to bring for prescription consultation
  • Your current medications and their original packaging
  • Documentation showing the generic names and active ingredients of your medications
  • Prescriptions issued in your home country
  • Any official documents detailing your current treatment plan
Important Notes
  • Approved medications, brand names, and standard dosages may differ between Japan and overseas. The same brand may not always be available in Japan. In such cases, our doctor will recommend a Japanese-approved equivalent after evaluating your condition.
  • Medication costs paid at dispensing pharmacies are not included in our clinic’s consultation fees.
  • Refilling regular prescriptions from your home country during travel is often excluded from standard travel insurance coverage. Please check with your insurer beforehand.
